Mermet News January 2019.

To our 2018-21 collection, we are able to announce the introduction of two, NEW market leading technical shading fabrics.  The brochures are already in the brochure section of this website ready to download, seek them out in the Screen Design section and look at;

MSU - The M-Screen fabric has been given the Ultimetal, metallisation treatment and how!? Solar reflectance 83%, light transmittance (Tv) down to 3%.  Market leading performance on the proven, reliable M-Screen.  Download your new brochure now.

Screen Progress - a unique, bespoke product targeted at the very top end of the designer specifier market.  Long been asked for, previously attempted, now achievable - graduated openness of fabric in the one window.  From 3% openness to over 15% in the same, uninterrupted weave of fabric, no joints, no tricks, just weaving a Mermet speciality.  Want glare control near the desk, but maximum natural  light coming in at the top of the window? Specify 3% openness for the 1st 1800 mm from the floor, gradually opening up to 17% at the top.  Want a great view out through the bottom but want to keep the light down at the top? Why not reverse it? Have 15% openness at the bottom, closing to 5% towards the top.  Download your brochure now.

50 Shades of Grey (more than). We now have supplies of literature for the 2018-21 collection announced @ Stuttgart in February 2018. New colours and new roll widths coming on-line now, speed of introduction increasing from September 2018.

Pitfalls: pretty colours (reds, blues, yellows etc.) going from the M-Screen range, also going, the colour 20 (alabaster) as a 95 tex warp colour, so, no M-Screen 2020 Alabaster (linen). Kibo 8500 loses both 2020 and 3001 (Charcoal grey).

Changes to range, fabric by fabric:

Lean Manufacturing’

‘Lean’ Manufacturing Software Program Explanation.  In France, the Mermet production facility has started to utilise a ‘Lean’ production forecasting system. Every significant enquiry received for fabric is entered into the system. The objective being that they ‘see into the future’, predicting bottlenecks, shortages of capacity, etc. and avoiding them. In this respect any significant (10+ rolls/1,000 msq) enquiry goes into the system –with as much of the following information as is available:

Fabric type / colour / roll width / quantity / date of specification of the fabric / estimated time for decision / estimated time for order / timescale, to required delivery: Anything from 4 weeks to 1st half 2021, e.g. Q1 2019 / Probability: 10% (unlikely) – 90% (order recd' but no measurements yet).

Every enquiry put into the system will be monitored, so expect our follow up phone calls .
